What are students and teachers saying
about these piano books?
From Facebook:
"Hello from a 1960’s Montreal student
Helena,
I was just playing the piano and thinking about how grateful I am to you for your wonderful influence.
I hope you are well and would love to chat. Your devoted fan and student."
Kathy E.
"Hi Helena,
I just wanted to say that my son Evan and I are really enjoying
your books!! I think you did a perfect job in writing
them and explaining everything in a way that children can understand.
Evan's really enjoying the learning process and is really progressing
rapidly. I'm so glad I stumbled upon your web site!! Thanks
kindly,"

"I've been using Helena's method since Spring 2000.
It's a delightful thing to hear the tunes like Beethoven's Fifth
daily, and know my four children ages 14, 12, 9, and 7 are having
a grand time. Piano lessons don't cost a cent.
I've given them the tools, the piano, the books and I help when
asked, otherwise I say nothing. Piano playing is now part of
their daily routine, so we learn together. Even for a parent
who is not a musician, you can read, so you can do this, it's
so elementary. Also, the exposure to music can open many 'surprising'
doors."

"Dear
Helena,
I now have absolutely no success in my piano playing. I don’t
really like my new piano teacher, because she doesn’t
let me express my feelings in the music, like you let
me. All I do the whole lesson is play pianissimo... When can
I come over to where you live or you come over to our house?
I need your help to give me my passion back."

"The philosophy behind this volume is to gather
compositions from the classical repertoire that students can
play and enjoy while gaining technique. The editor groups pieces
that use the Alberti bass, broken and blocked chords, double
thirds, five-finger patterns, repeated notes, staccato, tremolo,
and legato,etc... experienced teachers will find the
pieces useful for developing reading skills and for strengthening
technical ideas."

"I regard her (Miss Helena
Sandler) as an intelligent and experienced musician, who has
had expert training in the piano, clarinet, and flute. She has
proven herself to be a teacher with initiative and imagination.
I am confident that she will be a valuable asset to any active
musical community."

"Helena Sandler was my
piano teacher for four years.... more importantly she has passed
on to me a love and appreciation of classical music. She enabled
me to develop the discipline to play music technically well
and the ability to interpret a musical work with insight."
Linda G.
"Helena, you help me in
so many ways - not just in piano, but also helping me understand
the world and myself. You're not just a teacher to me, you're
one of my best friends as well."
Selene E.
"It was wonderful to speak
with you! After buying your books, we took them home and left
them on the piano. Sara, who I told you had NOT had a lot of
fun playing the piano, started by herself, played and.......enjoyed
it! That same day, our three children played, just
for fun! So we are very encouraged. We will stay in contact
with you. Thank you so much."
Jean Luc and Brigitte M.
"How satisfying to learn
something that is enjoyed and sounds nice right away! By the
way, I have four piano students now, and they all like your
books."
Rachel L.
"Helena, I am not sure
if you will remember me or not but I was a student of yours
in the 1990's. I thought I would write to say thank you for
all you taught me... I have recently begun to play piano again.
I realized that was when I was most happiest. I wanted to write
and to say thank you once again for teaching me to play the
most beautiful instrument made."
Courtnay V.
"Dear Helena, I was very
much taken with your music programs, and I know that my friend
Norma was also very much impressed with what you have done.
I just wanted to email you, and let you know that I have recommended
your course to some ladies on a homeschool forum which I frequent,
and will continue to do so whenever I come across the question
of teaching piano at home - I too, will want to be getting your
Advanced technique book before too long. Thank you for
sharing with us, and for giving such a gift to music lovers
and future music lovers. Most Sincerely, with Kind regards,"

"Hello Mrs. Sandler,
I wanted to thank you for your lovely books. Recently I started
playing piano again. After years of wishing I had kept up with
my piano lessons as a child I finally decided to stop wishing
and do something about it. Now I'm playing Beethoven! I can
hardly believe it.
The best thing is, my 8-year old nephew has also taken quite
an interest in the piano and I've been teaching him what I remember
from my childhood lessons and all that I'm learning now (I've
started piano lessons again for myself).
He loves it and on Xmas Eve we both played a mini concert for
the family and my nephew, Adolfo, played 3 xmas songs and it
was great. He has a kidney disease which prevents him from playing
sports like his older brother and everyone is thrilled he has
taken such a liking to the piano. He caught on so fast, I was
amazed.
Anyways, I just placed an order for the Primary Level 2 and
I will get the check in the mail by tomorrow. Take care and
a Happy New Year to you."
Sincerely,
Caroline A.
